Over many decades Gavin has built a formidable reputation as one of Australia's leading investment analysts.

Gavin holds an honours degree in economics and finance. At university Gavin had one goal and that was to come away knowing more about economics and finance than anyone else. "I read every book in the library - not just the course material - on economics and finance. Economics and economic history fascinated me. I was obsessed with learning all I could."

On graduating Gavin worked in stockbroking and investment banking, before establishing his own portfolio management business in 1977.

Through rigorous analysis of businesses and the governance of value investing, Gavin now leads a team managing portfolios for a select group of high net worth individuals.

Warren Buffett, the legendary US investor, has had a tremendous impact on Gavin. Buffett's philosophies and strategies immediately resonated with him. According to Gavin, "It was like finding the Holy Grail."

Between 1988 - 2007 Gavin featured on the very popular and long running weekly investment and finance talkback program on ABC Radio Melbourne. Over this time, he counselled the benefits of value investing to a legion of admirers.

Between 1990 - 2000 Gavin was a guest lecturer on financial planning at Melbourne University. He is also a former Chairman of the International Association for Financial Planning (Australia).
